First ever RORO service of South Western Railway\u00a0from Nelamangla (near Bengaluru) to Bale (near Solapur) has been started. This shall be\u00a0the only privately operated RORO train services on Indian Railways. Roll On Roll Off (RORO)\u00a0is a concept of\u00a0carrying road vehicles loaded with various commodities, on open flat railway wagons.<\/span><\/p>\n 3. Recently, the 41st\u00a0Goods and Services Tax (GST) council\u00a0meeting was held to discuss the issue of compensating states on account of revenue loss due to\u00a0implementation of GST\u00a0and fall in\u00a0cess<\/a>\u00a0collections. It is a\u00a0constitutional body (Article 279A)\u00a0for making recommendations to the Union and State Government on issues related to Goods and Services Tax. The GST Council is chaired by the\u00a0Union Finance Minister\u00a0and other members are the Union State Minister of Revenue or Finance and Ministers in-charge of Finance or Taxation of all the States.<\/span><\/p>\n 4. The World Urdu Conference 2020 is being organised by the\u00a0National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL)\u00a0from 27th-28th\u00a0August 2020. Urdu is one of the languages mentioned in the\u00a08th\u00a0Schedule\u00a0to the Constitution.<\/span><\/p>\n 5. The report of\u00a0Covid-19\u00a0cases among the members of the\u00a0Great Andamanese\u00a0tribe is a matter of concern as the total population of the tribe is already low.. Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG): Great Andamanese are one of five\u00a0PVTGs\u00a0that reside in\u00a0Andamans archipelago.\u00a0The other four are:\u00a0Jarwas, Onges, Shompens\u00a0and\u00a0North Sentinelese. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n 6. Recently, the 17th\u00a0ASEAN-India\u00a0Economic Ministers Consultations was held virtually, co-chaired by India and Vietnam. The meeting was attended by the Trade Ministers of all the 10\u00a0ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations)\u00a0countries viz. Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.<\/span><\/p>\n 8. Recently, India has withdrawn its participation from\u00a0Kavkaz 2020,\u00a0a multinational tri-services exercise in Russia, citing\u00a0Covid-19\u00a0as the official reason. It is a strategic\u00a0command-post exercise,\u00a0and also known as\u00a0Caucasus-2020. Member countries of\u00a0Shanghai Cooperation Organisation\u00a0(SCO) and Central Asian countries\u00a0would be participating. India\u2019s military diplomacy with Russia started in 2003 with the first edition of\u00a0Ex Indra<\/a>, a bilateral Naval exercise. India also participated in\u00a0Exercise TSENTR 2019.<\/span><\/p>\n
